- Who tells it ? The MacOS or ShapeShifter ?

- This was told me when I first reported the bug to phase5.
-
- RS> Christoph disabled booting from CDRom now to avoid such accesses...
-
- The new "sommer"-mode doesn't help anything. ShapeShifter recognizes data
- CDs (sometimes), but will not recognize any audio or photoCDs.
- I even got the old annoying "Phase Change Error" again.
-
- RS> P.S. But it's prolly irrelevant what i say here because you will

-
- Right. And wrong. At the same time.
-
- Why do so many other host adapters work happily (even with DMA turned on)
- with the ShapeShifter, but only the Fastlane Z3 not ?!?!?!?
- If every scsi controller would fail with ShapeShifter, then I would tend to
- say that Christian Bauer made a fault. But most other controllers work, so
- I think it's anything in the z3scsi.device.
- And like I said half a year before, when this error occured for the first
- time, I don't want to know exactly who is responsible for this [censored]
- feature. I see that e.g. the ALF3 / Oktagon DO work with ShapeShifter (and
- they had a similar bug (if I remember right) which made a ROM update /
- patch necessary).
- And this ALF3 is a cheap old controller (don't flame me), and FastLane Z3
- is a high end product. I think I can demand that such an expensive board is
- debugged when even a controller, where the producer isn't in business any
- more !!!, gets finally updates / bugfixes, especially, when the error is
- known to be there for over half a year !!!
-
- I don't want phase5 to rework the whole controller, why can't they just
- release a patch (like for ALF3/Oktagon) or offer an update EPROM (I'm
- willing to pay for it !).
-
- They did decide to ignore my asking. And this isn't a good point for a firm
- which had one of the best customer services before. This is what I complain
- about. This is what I'm not going to accept.
-
- I want an answer on my question, and I want a bugfix. Nothing more.
